Hey, welcome to the blog. We named our oldest daughter (4 yrs old) Elle. Have you enjoyed having your name? Weird question, I know, I'm just curious since we've never known anyone else with that name!

Where does the 42-mile goal come from?

From Predog on Tue, Oct 19, 2010 at 18:51:44 from 24.10.136.228

Hey! Welcome to the Blog! (This is Joe btw) Hope you enjoy it. I was also curious what is significant about 42 miles (which is a great goal)?

From Elle on Tue, Oct 19, 2010 at 21:56:16 from 204.8.229.145

Well, My names is actually Laura, but some of my friends call me Elle, and I love it! One of my friends in high school was named Elizabeth but went by Elle.

42 was... a random number that I decided was going to be my goal. It is also the answer to life, the universe, and everything.

Great run today! Even though I was burning from yesterday I still made it home alive! Too bad my dog stepped on a rock or something and started bleeding all over my carpet! But don't worry. He is just fine!

It's ok to have a slow easy day. In fact most of your running should be "easy" pace. If it feels sluggish just go slow until you feel better.

Sprained my ankle jumping out of bed after a nightmare the other day. It is almost better. I plan to run tomorrow.

How's the ankle doing?

From Elle on Mon, Nov 01, 2010 at 18:46:19 from 204.8.229.145

Well, the sprained part of it is great, but now the other side feels like a shin splint when I walk quickly or run. My mom says it could be from over compensation, so I am just going to strengthen it for a little bit before I run anything over a mile.

From Predog on Mon, Nov 01, 2010 at 20:41:05 from 24.10.136.228

Ice it up good. That is the magic bullet if there is one. You can also bike or something if you want to try and maintain some aerobic fitness.

My ankle finally doesn't hurt!

I finally got myself out into the cold. It only took me three days to talk myself into running this morning. But now that it is done I feel great.

I ran through my belly cramps that I get around mile 1. I also ran through my calf cramps that I get when I don't run for a while. I felt better running through them then not.
